# Palace target Tosun keen to play in England

Crystal Palace made a deadline day swoop to sign Cenk Tosun from Besiktas, but their efforts fell through at the final hurdle.

The Eagles were keen to add a striker to their squad ahead of what promises to be an incredibly difficult campaign, and they had lined up Tosun, along with Everton’s Oumar Niasse, to add more firepower.

It has since been revealed that only the timing of Palace’s move meant that the transfer didn’t take place, but this hasn’t influenced Tosun’s thinking – he’s keen to play in the Premier League.

Speaking to [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3208784/besiktas-cenk-tosun-open-to-premier-league-move-despite-palaces-failed-bid) about what the future may hold, Tosun admitted that a key ambition of his is to represent his country in the English game, opening the door to a move to Palace despite the broken down move from the summer.

> I am really happy at Besiktas but like Arda Turan and Nuri Sahin I want to be an ambassador for Turkey abroad. I am keen on playing in England.

> I am really pleased with the interest being shown from the Premier League sides mentioned. It really is an honour and we will discuss my future with the club president at the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur are also cited with interest in Tosun, but Palace are likely to retain their interest as they look to stay afloat in the top flight.
