# Benteke to undergo scan on Monday

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke is set to undergo a scan on his suspected ligament damage on Monday, according to the [Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/crystal-palace-news-christian-benteke-injury-ligament-how-long-roy-hodgson-a7965001.html).

The Belgian international led the line for Palace as they crashed to their sixth consecutive defeat on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fell short as Manchester City put them to the sword with a thumping 5-0 win.

Benteke was forced off with the injury, which has prompted concerns that the powerful striker could miss a prolonged period of action.

Palace were forced to use Bakary Sako as a sole striker in the absence of Benteke, further highlighting the lack of striking depth that the squad currently contains.

Benteke, like the rest of his Palace teammates, has failed to net so far this season, but is undoubtedly a key player for Roy Hodgson as he looks to pull his new side out of a sticky situation.

Palace will now await the results of Benteke’s scan on Monday, with hopes that he can make a speedy recovery.
