# Benteke set to miss at least six weeks through injury

Crystal Palace are set to be without Christian Benteke for at least six weeks, according to a report from the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/09/25/crystal-palace-suffer-major-blow-christian-benteke-ruled-minimum/).

The Belgian striker was forced off in Palace’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, which raised fears over whether or not he’d be available for the foreseeable future.

Benteke suffered suspected ligament damage, and was due to undergo a scan on the injury on Monday. Unfortunately for Palace, the blow is as bad as first expected.

The Eagles do not have a senior striker other than Benteke in their squad, meaning that they will need to seek other alternatives from within the ranks or delve into the free agent market to bolster their front-line temporarily.

Roy Hodgson opted to use Bakary Sako as a striker when Benteke was forced off against City, and this could be an avenue that the former England boss explores in the near future without his talisman.
