# Crystal Palace’s move for Guaita thrown into doubt

Crystal Palace’s move for Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita appears to have been thrown into doubt, with the club’s manager Jose Bordalas claiming that the Spaniard will stay beyond the January transfer window.

Reports had indicated that Palace were close to completing a deal for the experienced goalkeeper, with it having been claimed that Guaita had passed a medical with the Eagles.

Palace have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper since the summer, as Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni edge ever closer to the expiration of their contracts. It was thought that Guaita would be the man to claim the number one spot this month but if Bordalas is to be believed, this will not be the case.

As quoted by [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer-centre), the Getafe boss had this to say on Guaita’s short-term future.

> I think he will stay, I am convinced about that. I have spoken to my president about it.

> He has now recovered from injury and has trained with his team mates and I think I can include him in our next game.

The 31-year-old is a key player for Getafe, therefore it is unsurprising to see Bordalas’ reluctance to part company with the shot stopper this month.

Guaita has made 17 starts in La Liga this season for his side.
