# Crystal Palace reportedly to sign Diego Cavalieri for free

Crystal Palace appear to have finally made their mind up over their pursuit of experienced Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.

According to an exclusive report from [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3390647/former-liverpool-goalkeeper-diego-cavalieri-set-for-palace-sources) this evening, the Eagles will press ahead with their interest in Cavalieri and aim to secure him on a short-term deal.

It’s claimed that Roy Hodgson has seen enough quality from the shot stopper in training to feel that recruiting him on a permanent basis is a good idea for the remainder of the season.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper has been joining in with first-team training at Palace in recent times and appears to have shown Hodgson that he is fit and capable of competing for the team.

Palace have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper for some time now, with Hodgson claimed to be somewhat unconvinced by veteran goalkeeper Julian Speroni and Wales international Wayne Hennessey.

Cavalieri is set to join the Eagles on a free transfer after the 35-year-old saw his time with Fluminense come to an end near the end of last year.
