# Lyon to make Sakho a transfer target

French side Olympique Lyonnais have made Crystal Palace captain Mamadou Sakho a target in their pursuit of a new central defender.

Reports in L’Equipe, via[Football London](https://www.football.london/crystal-palace-fc/transfer-news/manchester-united-palace-defenders-shortlist-14968191), say that the French side have made Sakho a target, along with Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof.

Lyon admires the Frenchman’s many attributes, such as his experience, strength and power, all things that are seen as big positives by the Ligue 1 side.

Roy Hodgson has made a key point of keeping his top players in this transfer window, with Palace star Wilfried Zaha another player linked with a potential move away from the club.

However, another stumbling block could be Sakho’s wages, which are high compared to Lyon’s average wage.

With only a few weeks left of the transfer window, it would also have to be asked wether Palace would risk selling such a key asset so close to the deadline, with not long left to sign a replacement.
