# Roy Hodgson pleased with new signing Max Meyer

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that he is “very happy” with Max Meyer, despite not giving him a start in the Premier League this season.

As reported on the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6201777/Crystal-Palace-boss-Roy-Hodgson-happy-Max-Meyer.html), Meyer has made four appearances from the bench in the league, with his full Palace debut coming in the Carabao Cup victory over Championship side Swansea City.

The highly-rated German international is yet to prove his worth at Selhurst Park, but Hodgson is backing the summer signing to impress over the course of the season.

The 23-year-old has not been rushed into action in the league and Hodgson wants him to be fully prepared before making his first start in the competition.

He said:

> I’m very happy with Max. He’s been training very well, and we like what we see. He’s a Premier League player and will keep on showing that.

> Max knitted our play together very well when he came on against Newcastle; he’s very lively and he’s always in my thoughts to play.

Meyer has played four times for Germany’s senior side and will be hoping for a start tomorrow evening as Palace travel to West Brom in the Carabao Cup third round.
