# Crystal Palace eyeing loan swoop for McCarthy

Crystal Palace are eyeing up a loan swoop for Everton central midfielder James McCarthy.

[According to The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-arsenal-chelsea-13900072), Palace are interested in signing McCarthy on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Roy Hodgson is looking to add to his squad before the deadline on Thursday and is keen on a move for the out-of-favour Irishman.

McCarthy is yet to make a single appearance in any competition this season for Everton, after coming back from a broken leg.

The midfielder’s only involvement this term was as an unused substitute against Lincoln in the FA Cup earlier this month.

Despite his lack of match fitness, Palace are looking into a deal to add him to their squad as they look to have a strong end to the season.

The 28-year-old, McCarthy, has played over 100 Premier League games for Everton since joining the club in 2013 from Wigan.
