# Palace target Aarons signs new contract at Norwich

Crystal Palace transfer target Max Aarons has signed a new long-term deal with Norwich City this week.

Norwich have officially confirmed that Aarons has put pen to paper on a five-year extension at Carrow Road, ending any chances Palace had of signing the highly-rated defender.

[Palace were linked](https://readnorwich.com/2019/07/04/crystal-palace-eye-move-to-sign-max-aarons/) with a £10m move for Aarons, with that figure seeming low at the time, earlier this summer.

Aarons broke into the Norwich team at the start of last season and started 41 straight Championship matches for the Canaries as they won the title – lifting the trophy at Villa Park on the final day of the campaign.

Roy Hodgson is in the market for a right-back after selling England under-21 international Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United for a fee in the region of £50m.
