# Southampton want to make move for Palace target Joakim Maehle

Crystal Palace target Joakim Maehle is reportedly also wanted by Southampton in January, according to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/11889673/joakim-maehle-southampton-consider-move-for-genk-defender).

The Saints are reportedly looking to strengthen their defence in January, with right back being an issue with Cedric set to leave the club.

Maehle was a target for Southampton last January, but Genk refused to sell the defender due to still being in the Europa League.

However, Southampton may make a move again for him this January, with Crystal Palace also scouting the defender.

Palace are also looking to strengthen their defence, and Maehle could be the man for the job.
