# Tottenham join Palace in pursuit of Ferguson

Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign West Bromwich Albion defender Nathan Ferguson in the summer, according to a report on [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-hopeful-of-signing-8m-player-for-4m-in-the-summer/).

The 19-year-old was [on the verge](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51293041) of joining Crystal Palace, but the deal collapsed on deadline day after a [problem during the player’s medical.](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/crystal-palace-transfer-news-nathan-ferguson-a4350711.html)

Ferguson had a knee issue which meant he could be kept out of action until the end of the season, which resulted in Palace failing to authorise the move.

Now, as stated in[the report,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-hopeful-of-signing-8m-player-for-4m-in-the-summer/) Spurs are plotting a £4m swoop for the full-back in the summer transfer window.

Ferguson has been a key player for West Brom this season after being converted into a full-back by manager Slaven Bilic and has played [21 times in the Championship this term.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-ferguson/leistungsdaten/spieler/507254)

The youngster’s versatility is one of his biggest assets as he can also operate as a centre-back.

We believe that Tottenham joining the race to sign him is a big blow for Palace because he could be enticed by the chance of playing European football with the north London club next season.

After losing[Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United last summer](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/aaron-wan-bissaka-signs-for-manchester-united), the Eagles have failed to sign an adequate replacement and we feel Ferguson could be that man – but Spurs could spoil that plan.
