Crystal Palace await Dean Henderson fitness update ahead of Brighton clash

Crystal Palace are still waiting to see if Dean Henderson will be fit for Sunday’s meeting with Brighton. Pierre Sage was cautious about ruling Henderson out of the game and delayed his decision on his return.

Crystal Palace have had little time to recover and prepare following Thursday night’s match against Lyon. Sage wants to assess his players in training before deciding who could be available, leaving Henderson’s potential return uncertain.

The goalkeeper is among the players whose fitness will be checked, but Pierre Sage made it clear that he would not make any promises before seeing how the squad responds.

Sage delays decision on Henderson return

“I don’t know because we will train after the press conference. That’s why we have to evaluate his [Henderson’s] chance to come back in the team, and it’s the same for the other players. It’s not a way to not say it, but for the moment I don’t really know,” Sage said during his press conference.

The Palace boss expects the training session to provide a better idea of who might be ready for Sunday’s game. Another session could also help, although the club are not yet certain that any of their players will return.

“I prefer to wait for the session of today [to know if any players will come back] – maybe the one tomorrow too – but for the moment we hope, we expect it, but we don’t know.”

That leaves Palace waiting for further information before finalising their plans for Brighton. Henderson’s availability remains unclear, and Sage is taking a cautious approach rather than making an early call.
