# Crystal Palace injury news: Dean Henderson set to return against Fulham

**Crystal Palace face Fulham next for the Carabao Cup Round of 16 at Craven Cottage.**

[Crystal Palace](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/crystal-palace/) captain Dean Henderson is expected to return from injury for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Fulham, giving Pierre Sage a timely boost ahead of the last-16 tie at Craven Cottage.

Dean Henderson has been missing since Palace’s 3-2 [Premier League](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/premier-league/) win over Fulham on September 5 because of an ankle injury. [Pierre Sage](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/pierre-sage/) has now indicated that the goalkeeper is ready to feature again.

## Dean **Henderson set for Palace comeback**

“I think he will play,” [Sage said in his press conference ahead of the game](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7729155/2026/10/27/dean-henderson-crystal-palace-injury-return/).

Henderson’s return would be welcome news for Palace, who have been without their captain for several weeks. The game offers Sage a chance to make amends for the recent results and is reportedly given the Fulham and Tottenham game to prove himself before he sees the door.

[Ismaila Sarr](https://readcrystalpalace.com/2026/10/26/crystal-palace-sarr-groin-injury-mateta-return/) is less certain to feature. The winger continues to struggle with a groin problem and has been unable to perform at full speed in recent appearances.

“We tried to give him some minutes on Thursday, but he was really in pain with his groin again,” Sage said.

“That’s why we chose to let him out and give him some treatment, because we need him at 100 per cent.”

Sage explained that the issue has affected Sarr’s ability to make his usual high-speed runs. Palace are taking a cautious approach rather than risk pushing him before he is ready.

“For Ismaila Sarr, it’s difficult because his groin is really making him struggle. He was able to play 15-30 minutes, we tried to push more in Lyon and he played 60 but it’s really difficult for him.

“You saw his performance, he runs less, especially with high speed runs. We spoke together yesterday (Saturday) and took the decision to let him out because he needs treatment to come and help the team with 100 per cent of his capacity.”

## **Mateta expected to lead the attack**

[Jorgen Strand Larsen](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/jorgen-strand-larsen/) is also a doubt after twisting his ankle following a tackle. Sage said the forward’s availability would be assessed on Wednesday.

[Jean-Philippe Mateta](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/jean-philippe-mateta/), meanwhile, is expected to lead the line after returning to the starting XI against Newcastle.

With Sarr struggling and Strand Larsen facing a late fitness check, Mateta’s presence could prove important as Palace look to book their place in the [Carabao Cup](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/carabao-cup/) quarter-finals.
