# Pierre Sage admits Crystal Palace are ‘not stable’ ahead of Fulham clash

**Pierre Sage is set to take his Crystal Palace side to Craven Cottage for the Carabao Cup Round of 16 clash against Fulham.**

[Pierre Sage](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/pierre-sage/) has admitted [Crystal Palace](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/crystal-palace/) are struggling for consistency but insists he is the man responsible for fixing the problems as pressure continues to build at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles travel to [Fulham](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/fulham/) in the [Carabao Cup](https://readcrystalpalace.com/tag/carabao-cup/) on Wednesday, with Sage looking for a response after a difficult run of results.

The Palace boss believes his players have shown what they can do, but says they are not producing those performances often enough.

## Pierre **Sage explains Palace’s consistency problems**

[Speaking ahead of the Fulham clash](https://www.skysports.com/football/live-blog/13279298/crystal-palace-transfers-latest-news-rumours-and-gossip-live-updates-goals-and-highlights), Sage admitted his side have been too unpredictable from one spell of a match to another.

“What is difficult is sometimes you see what you want, the players are able to do it, and in the same (match) sometimes you have the opposite.”

“That’s why we have to build the conditions for consistency, and it’s about creating the habits between the players, the concentration to keep in mind what we have to do in each moment of the play.”

“For the moment, it’s not stable. That’s why sometimes we are close, and sometimes we are far.”

Sage was also asked whether a lack of leadership on the pitch had contributed to the situation, but the Frenchman made it clear where he believes the responsibility lies.

“The leader is me. I have to create these kinds of conditions.”

## **Sage refuses to give up on his approach**

With questions being asked about his future, Sage was also asked whether he might need to change his methods to get better results in English football.

“I’m not the kind of guy and the club isn’t the kind of club who anticipates the worst scenario. When we decided to work together we thought it was a good fit. At the moment it’s not the case but there are things that give us hope.

“To have opportunities you need to be an opportunity.

“Maybe why way of working is different. Maybe I have to adapt to this league but I will keep going in the way I decided with some little adaptations. I’m sure in the end it will be OK.”

Sage now needs his players to show that improvement on the pitch, starting with Fulham and then Tottenham on the weekend.
