Crystal Palace have drawn either Southampton or Ipswich in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating non-league side Dover Athletic in the previous round.
Pardew’s side will face either of the two sides away from home on the weekend of 23/24 January 2015.
The Eagles’ tie was the first to be drawn out with Laurie Sanchez picking out the South London side among the 31 sides still in the pot. The draw took place at AFC Wimbledon’s clubhouse before their FA Cup game against Liverpool with the home side being the hometown of Eagles manager Alan Pardew.
Southampton triumphed over Palace earlier on Boxing Day, a match that resulted in the sacking Neil Warnock who was sacked days after the defeat after a poor atmosphere throughout and after the game among the supporters. The last time that Crystal Palace faced the Saints in the FA Cup was in the semi-final of the 1976 tournament where a then Malcom Allison saw his side fall to a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
The other side that Pardew’s side could face is Ipswich Town, a side that the Eagles last face in their 2012/13 promotion season; Palace lost the game at Portman Road 3-0 in April in a revenge result after they were outclassed in November at Selhurst Park as they lost 5-0.
Palace will find out their fate next Wednesday as Ipswich host Southampton in their 3rd round replay.
