Crystal Palace defender Peter Ramage has extended his loan deal with League One side Barnsley until the end of the season, effectively ending his time with the Eagles.
The 31-year old has made 15 appearances for the side that sit in 17th and has also managed to find the back of the next twice; his loan deal was due to expire on the on the weekend after their FA Cup tie against Middlesborough but has decided to extend that until the end of the season.
Ramage’s contract expires at the end of the season at Crystal Palace and the defender has said on social networking site Twitter that he has played his final game for the South London club. In a statement, the defender said: “Remaining at Barnsley for the remainder of the season effectively ends my time with Palace.
“I just wanted to thank everyone associated with the club for my time there, the owner, players, staff and more importantly the fans. It has been an emotional ride, one I’ve enjoyed every minute of and I will treasure. The promotion season was hands down the highlight of my career.
“To play a part in returning the club to its rightful place was something reams are made of an hopefully they’ll go from strength to strength and I’m sure they will. It’s a club now that’s imprinted on my heart and forever will be.
“I’ve met so many people that will remain friends forever and who knows what the future holds. For the time being I’l be cheering on the boys as one of you (fans).”
Born on Tyneside, the defender joined the club in August 2012 after being released by QPR; he went on to make 67 appearances for the Eagles, scoring four goals in the 2012/13 promotion season before going out on loan to Barnsley in 2013 for the entire season and again for an initial three months from October this season of which now has been extended until the end of the season.
Peter Ramage was loved by many Palace fans due to the sincere nature he did things around the club both on and off the pitch with many fans remembering his heart to heart moment with Damien Delaney after collecting their medals at Wembley after a play-off final victory against Watford.
