Rickie Lambert
Alan Pardew has made no secret of the fact that he desperately wants new strikers but has already admitted defeat in trying to bring England and Liverpool striker Ricky Lambert to Selhurst Park. Lets face it, it was slightly ambitious anyway! He said “We are kind of monitoring strikers. My pool of strikers don’t have any problem with that. They know competition is coming in. (Glenn) Murray was terrific and I was really pleased with him; that is a boost for us but hopefully there will be a striker or two arriving. I had a conversation with Brendan but I don’t think Rickie is going anywhere. I think Rickie wants to stay there and try and win his position.” Onto the next then, Al…
Jermain Defoe
When asked about trying to lure Arsenals Yaya Sanogo to switch to Selhurst on a temporary basis, he deflected the questions and instead talked about 32 year oldDefoe. “I know Jermain from my West Ham days and I know what he can do. It will be interesting to see if he comes on the market and if he pitches in. He will probably have a couple of choices, I should think.” However no contact has been made. What are you waiting for?!?
Somebody unlikely to be leaving is Glenn Murray. Hooray! “He’s a good guide. I’d be reluctant to let him go back on loan. I think he might be important until the end of the year”.
With all the talk of getting new forwards in, there has been no developments in a new left back although we fully expect that to change soon with rumours that Spurs are doing a bit of spring cleaning. Kyle Naughton anybody?
