Crystal Palace will play Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup after they defeated Ipswich Town in their third round replay tonight.
Pardew’s side will face Ronald Koeman’s side at St Mary’s next weekend with only a trip to Burnley who lost 4-2 at White Hart Lane against Tottenham in their third round replay tonight after going up by two goals in the opening eight minutes.
The Eagles’ tie was the first to be drawn out with Laurie Sanchez picking out the South London side among the 31 sides still in the pot. The draw took place at AFC Wimbledon’s clubhouse before their FA Cup game against Liverpool with the home side being the hometown of Eagles manager Alan Pardew.
Southampton triumphed over Palace earlier on Boxing Day, a match that resulted in the sacking Neil Warnock who was sacked days after the defeat after a poor atmosphere throughout and after the game among the supporters. The last time that Crystal Palace faced the Saints in the FA Cup was in the semi-final of the 1976 tournament where a then Malcom Allison saw his side fall to a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
