The 26-year-old featured in the Asia Cup where Crystal Palace skipper Mile Jedinak is currently playing for Australia but the winger was injured in South Korea’s opening win against Oman where he fractured his shin; the winger is only expected to be out for up to two weeks with his current manager Lennon describing it as a “minuscule hairline fracture which will heal very, very quickly.”
Crystal Palace are still rumoured to be interested in signing Swansea’s key striker Bafétimbi Gomis after Wilfried Bony’s departure to Manchester City, leaving a £9million valuation on top of his head; the club have yet to put in a second bid in for Rudy Gestede after Blackburn rejected a £3.5m bid for the striker with the club waiting for a figure closer to £6m before considering accepting a bid for the player.
Alan Pardew fended off questions about his transfer plans in his pre-match press conference before Saturday’s FA Cup game against Southampton. Speaking to the media, he said: “I think we’ve enquired on about three, four or five different players whether they’re available – that’s really where we’re at.
“The chairman is pursuing some lines of enquiry in the right manner, in the way it should be conducted.
“I’m not going to talk about other players at other clubs. I don’t think that’s fair.”
