Marouane Chamakh could be set to return to action this weekend for Crystal Palace in their FA Cup fixture against Southampton at St Mary’s in the fourth round of the competition.
The striker has been out of action since coming off with a hamstring injury against Stoke in December before the festive period kicked in and with a new manager at the helm at Selhurst Park, the Moroccan will be looking to please the new boss and prove he has what it takes to remain a regular first teamer as he was under Neil Warnock.
Chamakh has made 13 appearances for the Eagles this season, scoring and creating a goal on a single occasion this season with his only goal coming against West Ham United at Selhurst Park in September where Palace suffered a 3-1 defeat.
He faces competition for a place up-front with Dwight Gayle in fine goal scoring form, Yaya Sanogo who has just joined from Arsenal on loan alongside Glenn Murray and Frazier Campbell who could also feature in attack for Alan Pardew.
