It’s nearing the end of the African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and after a successful past month for Crystal Palace’s players on international duty with club captain Mile Jedinak lifting the Asian Cup for his Australia side after they defeated China in the final on Saturday with a 2-1 extra time win over South Korea.
Yannick Bolasie will be the first player to feature in the semi-finals of the tournament after his home nation defeated Congo in the quarter-finals on Saturday with them picking up four second half goals to make a surprise progression into the latter stages of the tournament. A game against the Ivory Coast tonight is all that stands between Bolasie’s side and the final and they will be up against tough challengers with the opposition winning their previous two games after drawing their opening two.
Kwesi Appiah was a surprise inclusion in Avram Grant’s Ghana squad but after scoring a goal in the quarter-finals against Guinea on Sunday, the 24-year-old has proved why he was included in the team as he also managed to provide an assist. He came off the bench in their final group stage game against South Africa to make a difference with his side instantly scoring twice, putting them ahead after being 1-0 down after 17 minutes.
Ghana are set to face hosts Equatorial Guinea and will be favourites for the game but will have to face a large number of support for the hosts but with the experience in their side, they should be comfortable winners in this fixture but with the way games have gone in this tournament so far, anything can and will happen.
