Alan Pardew has revealed that former Newcastle player and Janaury transfer signing Shola Ameboi could make a debut against Arsenal on Saturday in the Premier League clash.
The 33-year-old joined Turkish club Gaziantep on a free transfer from Newcastle in August but only after 11 games, the striker left the club in December – leaving him open to join Crystal Palace in January also on a free transfer; linking him up with his former manager Alan Pardew.
Speaking to TalkSport ahead of the game on Saturday, the Eagles manager said: “Shola is getting close and he has worked hard this week in training – his experience is going to be important for us and I’m looking forward to seeing him in a red and blue shirt – he has got a chance for this game (against Arsenal).”
Ameobi signed a contract until the end of the season with Palace towards the end of the Janaury transfer window, a move that shocked a number of Palace fans due to his age but it is yet to be seen whether his experience will help galvanise the Eagles for a much needed push to keep them afloat above the relegation zone.
