Former Crystal Palace skipper Paddy McCarthy is set to join Neil Lennon’s Bolton on loan after featuring for Sheffield United and the Eagles’ Under-21’s side on multiple occasions this season.
The 31-year-old hasn’t featured heavily for the first team since the Eagles’ promotion season after a number of recent injuries over the past few years; in 2012/13 Damien Delaney and Peter Ramage lead the back line in the center of defence with over 80 appearances between the two.
McCarthy has already been on loan in the Football League once this season as he made 11 appearances for Sheffield United between October and January where he scored a goal against Leyton Orient in his second game for the Blades; the centre back also received a red card in the 62nd minute in United’s 1-0 win over Doncaster.
