Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan has been suspended by his current club Bolton Wanderers alongside former Eagles player Neil Danns after an incident at a hotel in Bolton.
The 25-year-old has been staying at the Bolton Whites Hotel since arriving at the club on loan in February but after an incident at the hotel during the week, of which a number of guests complained about, him and Danns have been suspended for breaching club discipline.
Speaking after Bolton’s 2-2 draw with Brentford yesterday afternoon, Neil Lennon said that the two players crossed the line and would impose the highest possible sanctions on the players.
“I have to put a marker down and I won’t tolerate it,” Lennon told BBC Radio Manchester.
“They have got a bit of making up to do. They are suspended indefinitely, until further notice, and they’ll both be fined the maximum wage we can do.
“We will welcome them back when and if we decide it’s the right time to do it. We’re all big boys and I don’t mind them going out and socialising but they’ve crossed the line with me. I have to set standards at the club and expect them to be followed.”
The Bolton manager continued by saying that despite the recent incident, he is still a fan of a player and that the on loan player has apologised for this becoming a problem.
“I don’t know what it will mean for him. I like him as a player,” he continued by saying.
“He was very apologetic, as was Dannsy. We won’t make a big song and dance about it. We’ve tried to keep it internal but we’ll see what happens next week.”
