Lee Chung-Yong arrived from Bolton in the Janaury transfer window but has failed to make a single appearance for the Eagles, due to an injury he picked up whilst at the Asia Cup before joining the club.
The 26-year-old started training with the first team last Tuesday and could feature for the Under 21s today against Charlton, as their season enters the final three games with two point lead over second place Swansea City who have played two more games than the Eagles.
Alan Pardew has said that he hopes to see Chung-Yong playing for the first team before the end of the season and it would be good for the fans to see their new signing make his debut.
“His progress is good, he’s running around and we hope to see him before the end of the season,” he said.
“I hope the Palace fans get to see him because I think he’s going to be a good signing for us.
“Of course, for our fans he’s a bit of a mystery at the moment but he’s recovering from a broken leg and hopefully we can sort him.”
Speaking to the South London Press, the player has also expressed his views over his recovery from his injury and that his focus is currently on getting his fitness levels up and featuring for the club in the next couple of weeks.
“Tuesday was my first day of full training with the first-team,” said Lee.
“It was tough but I enjoyed it.
“I’m not worried about my injury. I can’t feel any pain now. I just need to get my fitness levels up and make sure that it is right, that is all I’m concentrating on right now.
“Before I play for the first team, I need to play an U21 game. That will be a help for me.”
