Nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award after a number of impressive performances in April for loan club Watford, Adlene Guedioura has revealed that he will be looking to leave Crystal Palace in the summer with a move to the Hornets being most favourable towards him if an offer was made.
Watford secured promotion to the Premier League on the weekend after a 2-0 win over Brighton at the Amex Stadium and it is looking more than likely that they will also secure the league title, if they win against Sheffield Wednesday as they hold a one point lead over second placed Bournemouth who face Charlton.
Guedioura initially spent a month on loan at the club in November when Neil Warnock was still in-charge at Crystal Palace where he made six appearances, scoring them both against Cardiff City towards the end of his loan spell. He was then given a chance in the first team at the Eagles when Alan Pardew took charge of the club, making three appearances in three wins with game time totaling up to just 76 minutes. The “maverick” was then loaned back out to the hornets in February, where he has went on to make 11 appearances in which he has scored two goals and assisted four.
The Hornets are reportedly interested in bringing the 29-year-old to Vicarage Road on a permanent transfer and when asked by the Watford Observer whether he would be interested in a move to the club, he said:
“Yes probably but I don’t know what is going to happen and I don’t know what the (Palace) manager is going to say. So I can’t say anything even if I want to.
“The transfer window is coming and I don’t know what will happen. I enjoyed my time at Watford.”
The midfielder is still training with Watford ahead of their final fixture of the season despite his loan expiring during the week, with the permission of Crystal Palace. Speaking to the same newspaper, Hornets head coach Slavisa Jokanovic said about the player:
“He won’t play but is doing a good job for us. He is a great professional player and a great character. It is a pleasure to work with players and people like him. He has helped today in training and I expect him to be a great help tomorrow too. He will be a very important guy for us for Saturday’s game.
“He has done a great job and while he won’t play the game, he will help us prepare for the match. He has been a very important player and did a fantastic job for us.”
