It was a rollercoaster month for the Eagles in April, something that the fans are used to. It included a memorable 2-1 win over Premier League champions Manchester City which was followed by an extravagant 4-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, it did also include two disappointing 2-0 defeats though against relegation threatened West Brom and Hull City.
The nominees for the NETELLER Player of the Month for April have been announced with the following players in the running for the award after stellar performances in the red and blue of Crystal Palace: Yannick Bolasie, Julian Speroni, Scott Dann and Glenn Murray.
You can vote for your favourite player at cpfc.neteller.com and you can also be on the pitch at Selhurst Park, presenting the award before the visit of Manchester United on Saturday 9th May.
Yannick Bolasie
NETELLER Player of the Month for March, Bolasie’s star keeps rising and a stellar hat-trick against Sunderland, plus a domineering yet effective defensive performance vs Man City, prompted Alan Pardew to slap a £40-60m price tag on the Congolese flyer! Yannick’s treble against The Black Cats was the first by a Palace player in the Premier League.
Julian Speroni
It’s not often a keeper is nominated for Player of the Month after conceding six goals in four games, but Speroni has been back to his imperious shot-stopping best. Glorious dives denied Man City’s David Silva (twice) and a top corner rocket from Yaya Toure to preserve all three points for The Eagles. The man is a legend and fully deserves his Testimonial match this year.
Glenn Murray
It’s a third nomination in a row for Murray since his return to SE25 after a loan spell at Reading. The big man scored the opening goals in wins against both Man City and Sunderland, he also assisted two of Bolasie’s three goals at the Stadium of Light. Murray and Pardew will share the end-of-season plaudits for turning around Palace’s campaign.
Scott Dann
Mr Consistent. It was Dann’s rebounded effort that was converted by Glenn Murray for the opener against Manchester City. A frankly phenomenal SIXTH consecutive Player of the Month nomination is set against a backdrop of rumoured interest from top six Premier League teams. Palace fans are hoping gaffer Alan Pardew issues a ‘hands off’ warning.
