Owen Garvan has announced on Twitter that he will be leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season, with his contract not being renewed by the club after spending five years at Selhurst Park.
The 27-year-old joined the club in 2010 from Ipswich for £250,000 and went on to make 87 appearances for the Eagles, scoring his first goal for the club in a 4-3 defeat to Preston in October that year. Garvan has played for six different permnament managers during his time at the club with his most memorable moment being when he was left out of Ian Holloway’s 25-man Premier League squad, leading to the midfielder tweeting, “I’ll be here longer then he will…trust me.”
To be fair to him, that he did.
Garvan will now be looking for a new club and will be hoping that time spent at the club during its most successful period in recent years won’t leave him short of offers. The midfielder scored 11 goals and made nine assists during his time at the club, with his most prominent spell in the first team being in the Eagles’ promotion season where he made 32 appearances across all competitions.
