Palace boss Alan Pardew has confirmed that both Damien Delaney and Jason Puncheon have put pen to paper on new deals at the club. With Delaney’s deal having been set to expire at the end of the season the Irishman has signed a one year extension with the club.
Puncheon has agreed terms to stay with the club until 2019. After signing for the club permanently in January last year, the 28-year-old has gone on to become one of the most important players at the club. In his press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash against Liverpool at Anfield, Alan Pardew stressed the importance of Puncheon both on and off the pitch:
“The way Puncheon conducts himself around here is fantastic, he is a true inspiration to the youth players.”
Since the arrival of Pardew in January, Puncheon has found himself in a more central role and the Palace gaffer paid testament to how the midfielder has adapted to that role.
“I’ve given him (Puncheon) more of a responsibility in his central role and his footballing intelligence has shone through.”
