The club have this afternoon announced that Eagles youngster Jake Gray and Ryan Inniss have both signed new deals at Selhurst Park with the duo signing a two and three year contract respectively.
The former of the two players made his competitive debut for Palace in the season just behind us as he featured in Capital One Cup games against Walsall and Newcastle United where he accumulated 60 minutes of playing time, where he made a good impression on the fans in the two games, showing promise of what is to come from the academy at the club.
Gray also travelled with the first team in their Premier League fixture against Southampton in March and featured on the bench. As well as featuring for Palace, the 19-year-old featured in four games for League One side Cheltenham in January and February, managing to create a single assist for a player on his team – however in all of the games in which he featured, they failed to win a single one – drawing one and losing three.
The attacking player featured heavily in Garry Issott’s under-21 side last season, a team that made it into the Development League Two Play Off Semi-Finals but unfortunately the Eagles were beaten by Huddersfield in extra time at Selhurst Park. Gray made 26 appearances for the side and contributed significantly by scoring six goals in those games.
Unlike Gray, Ryan Inniss has yet to make an appearance for the first team but has been a popular figure in the eyes of Port Vale fans, where the player spent the latter part of last season on loan before picking up an injury in a game against Coventry after making a challenge on Marcus Tudgay in the first half of the game.
The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a loan move back to the side managed by Rob Page in the early parts of the summer, and with the loan looking like a good move for both parties, it is something that we are likely to see be concluded in the coming weeks ahead of the new season beginning in August.
Inniss made five appearances whilst out on loan to Port Vale, picking up a yellow card in each of the five games that saw Page’s side win four and lose just one game. The centre back also went out to Yeovil Town for a more significant amount of time in the first part of the season, making six appearances in which he received a red card in the 63rd minute against Preston in November.
