Crystal Palace have been told by Chelsea that they are not looking to sell forward Loic Remy this summer after initially placing a £15m price-tag on the striker, reports Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror.
Alan Pardew’s side made an enquiry about the availability of Remy last month, a player that the Eagles boss has worked with before, during his fourth season in charge at Newcastle and were subsequently told that they would have to pay a fee of £15m to allow talks to begin over a contract with the France international.
However, it has now emerged that Chelsea are not prepared to sell the forward, going back on initial plans to sell him due to the reduced playing time that he would receive with the expected arrival of Ramadel Falcao over the coming days; but now the west London side want to keep Remy as a reliable and experienced back-up for the forward.
The Eagles have shown the most interest in the Chelsea striker so far this summer with Pardew looking for someone in that position to bolster the attacking threat of his front-line for this upcoming season, but it looks as if he will now have to look towards other options with QPR’s Charlie Austin being one of the main targets for the former Newcastle boss.
Loic Remy made 29 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side last season, with most of those coming from the bench, however he did score nine goals in a campaign of which he featured for 1,176 minutes.
