Crystal Palace have today reached an agreement with PSG over the transfer of France international Yohan Cabaye after initially falling short of the club’s valuation of the player, according to Jason Burt and Dominic Fifield of the Telegraph and Guardian respectively.
On the weekend it was reported by RMC Sport that the Eagles’ initial bid (£8.5m) for the player had been rejected with the Ligue 1 club looking for at least £11.3m to secure the services of the player, and according to reports circulating this evening in both the UK and French media it is being suggested that this figure has been met with Jason Burt reporting that the Eagles have agreed to a deal worth £12.8m including add-ons with PSG.
This isn’t the end of the saga however as it still remains to be seen whether the club can agree personal terms with the player at the subject of the transfer bid, with it being no hidden story that Cabaye would prefer a move to a more reputable Premier League club such as West Ham, as reported by Le Parisien on Monday morning.
The 29-year-old made his move to the Paris club in January 2014 from Newcastle to gain more playing time in the hope of making it into the France national side ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but since then he has fallen out of favour at the club and made 24 appearances for PSG last season, scoring one goal and creating another.
Cabaye is seeking a move this summer to gain more playing time to boost his reputation ahead of the European Championships next summer, a tournament in which the midfielder will be want to be apart of. It is expected that the player will make a decision about his future next week, as reported by the Guardian.
