According to the Express, Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann is poised to sign a bumper new contract at Selhurst Park, in the same week as the Eagles are poised to confirm the signing of Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth £12.8m.
28-year-old Englishman Dann was exceptional for Crystal Palace last season, and so has been deservedly been rewarded with a new deal in SE25, bumping his wages up to a stunning £65,000-a-week. His current deal has two years remaining, but an announcement on the news will be made soon.
In recent weeks, Everton had been linked with the central defender, but Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is on the lookout for someone who can work with Phil Jagielka and John Stones.
Instrumental to Palace’s progress under Pardew towards the end of last season, Dann was one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League, and that’s saying something.
Finishing 10th last season, Pardew wants his side to push on, and improve. The club will also be hoping to keep successfully splash the cash this summer, ahead of the new season.
