Yannick Bolasie returned to pre-season training this week with his teammates ahead of the new Premier League season in which Crystal Palace are expected to move on to even bigger and better things after finishing in the top half of the table last season, a feat that could not have been predicted at Christmas when the Eagles were struggling in the bottom three.
Ahead of joining the Eagles in their pre-season camp at St George’s Park this week, the talented winger took part in a training regime run by sports performance consultancy, Back 2 Action. During the time he spent there, he was interviewed by a young presenter from FFB TV.
Football Beyond Borders are a charity that use football to inspire young people to achieve their ambitions as well as making their voices heard. They have a number of projects which enables them to do this with the combination of football training sessions with FA qualified coaches alongside mentoring and tutoring programs.
One of the FBB school projects is the running of their YouTube channel called FFB TV – this particular project is a youth-led media platform in which young people are trained in digital media skills, giving them an opportunity to produce their own media. In their most recent interview, Mehrshad interviewed Yannick Bolasie:
After the interview, the young presenter spoke about his experience of interviewing a Premier League football and had the following to say:
“Meeting Yannick Bolasie was a great experience for me because I’ve never met a footballer before in my life, and I even got to interview him! He’s a friendly guy and has a really good personality. It was a long journey – 3 hours in the car from London to Bristol and the same going back – but it was totally worth it!”
Tom Bateman, Mehrshad’s teacher, said: “This kind of experience is incredible for the boys. Many 13 year olds can only dream of meeting Premier League footballers, let alone getting the chance to spend time with them. The experience of interviewing a premier league star in front of a camera is something not even many young journalists get to do!
It was also great for our young people to see how professional footballers train – the effort they put in and their level of focus were a great example of the kind of dedication that is needed to succeed at the top level. It was a great day all round.”
