Dwight Gayle is being “monitored” by Premier League new boys Norwich City, according to The Mirror’s James Nursey.
Despite scoring a hat-trick in the recent friendly game between Palace and Barnet, Gayle is still not seen as a first choice player.
The former Peterborough man started just eleven league games last season and he could find himself falling even further down the pecking order if Alan Pardew does decide to buy another striker, with QPR’s Charlie Austin a possibility.
According to the report by Nursey, the 25-year-old striker is “anxious” about his chances of game time in the future, especially if Palace continue to splash the cash in the transfer market, like they recently did when they signed the France international midfielder Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint Germain.
Gayle has been at Palace since 2013, when then manager Ian Holloway spend a reported £4.5m on him, but if the interest from Norwich proves to be genuine, he could find himself on the move as he searches for regular first team football.
