The South London Press has today reported that AFC Bournemouth have officially submitted a bid to Crystal Palace for the services of Glenn Murray.
The striker was loaned out for the first half of last season, and impressed while at Reading by netting eight times in eighteen league appearances.
Murray caught the attention of many after becoming somewhat of a cult hero at Selhurst Park. Upon returning from his spell in west London, he became more involved at Palace and finished the season with seven Premier League goals in seventeen games. Most memorably, he managed to score twice and get sent off in the same match as Crystal Palace beat West Ham 4-1 back in February. He also opened the scoring in the Eagles 2-1 win over giants Manchester City.
Crystal Palace have been heavily linked with moves for strikers Loic Remy and Charlie Austin in recent weeks. The addition of either to the squad would surely spell the end for thirty-one year old Glenn Murray. Bournemouth apparently see this situation as an opportunity for them, and have sent a bid to Palace worth £3.5 million.
I personally see Crystal Palace accepting the bid, as the deal will benefit both parties. The south Londoners are looking to improve their strike force and Glenn Murray would certainly not be in those plans. Yet for Bournemouth, Murray can be the perfect bit of experience and ability to line up next to Callum Wilson as they attempt to take the Premier League by storm next season.
