Palace Leading The Race To Sign Alexandre Pato

If you thought that Yohan Cabaye arriving at Selhurst Park would be Alan Pardew’s most intriguing signing of the summer, think again.

Remember Alexandre Pato? He burst onto the European scene in 2007 when he signed for AC Milan as the ‘next big thing’ to come out of Brazil. Labelled a wonderkid and expected to go on to become of the the world’s best players, Pato managed a goals-per-game ratio of 0.44 – not too shabby for a teenager moving to a different continent.

He never hit the heights expected of him though, and has since returned to Brazil. However, he is still only 25, which may seem hard to believe, but it’s important to remember that when he first gained recognition, he was a mere 16 years old.

Wanting to kickstart his career again, Pato is open to a move to the Premier League and Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail thinks Crystal Palace are a possible destination. Pato has been offered to Premier League clubs and wishes to be in ‘one of the big cities’. With Alan Pardew making no secret of his hunt for some attacking force and Pato supposedly keen on a London move, it could be a match made in heaven.

As well as having played with Ronaldinho, Kaka and Seedorf already, Alexandre Pato has scored Champions League goals against Barcelona and Real Madrid. This is definitely something which would appeal to the Eagles as they push for European contention in 2015/16.
