Rumours have been swirling that both Palace and West Ham were linked to sign French international Loic Remy from league Champions Chelsea. The Frenchman only started six games for the Blues, and appeared in 25 matches in all compeitions last season.
The Guardians Steve Benner reported that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said that there’s, “no chance” Remy will leave the London club. “It is an open competition between the three [strikers]. That’s our objective, that’s why we want three strikers ready and important.”
The 28 year-old could have found himself on a club that would offer much more playing time then he would be use to at Chelsea, but Remy has decided to stick around Stamford Bridge and fight for a starting spot.
“I am flattered that clubs were interested in me but I never wanted leave this club because I feel really good. Yes, of course I want to play more but I’m sure I can play more here.” added Remy when asked about what he thought about the opportunity of playing somewhere else in England.
Even though Remy only made 19 appearances for Chelsea in the EPL, he was still able to tally seven goals and score some crucial ones to save his club.
The rumours of the Frenchman leaving Chelsea grew more likely when the club signed Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco this summer. With the inclusion of Falcao, Remy is third string behind starter Diego Costa. However, Remy did step in when Costa missed games due to an injury and with Falcao also having a history with injuries, Mourinho would like to have the likes of Remy on the bench in case any of his top two go down.
