Steve Parish, the co-chairman of Crystal Palace has revealed that it is unlikely that Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin will join his club this summer.
The striker is almost certain to leave QPR after their relegation, and he has been linked with numerous Premier League sides, including Palace.
Austin is keen to stay in the top flight and continue his push for international recognition ofter he was called up at the end of last season, but it looks like he won’t become an Eagles player.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Parish did confirm that Palace were interested in signing Austin, but indicated that they won’t be getting a deal done to bring him to Selhurst Park.
“Charlie is definitely a player we admire but there are lots of clubs interested in him. There’s a good chance he will go beyond us, so to speak.”
Recent reports suggest that QPR are looking for a fee in the region of £15m for their prized asset, which might be too rich for Palace, especially after they boosted their attacking prowess by bringing in Patrick Bamford on a loan deal from Chelsea.
