Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has cooled the speculation surrounding Dwight Gayle, by saying that the young English striker still has a future at the Premier League club.
Since the end of the season, there has been plenty of speculation about the future of the former Peterborough striker, with reports indicating that Eagles boss Alan Pardew would let him leave if the club’s valuation of him was met.
Premier League newcomers Bournemouth and Norwich have been linked with Gayle on numerous occasions, but no bids have yet been made.
With the arrival of Patrick Bamford on a season-long-loan being confirmed earlier this week, question marks have been raised about the amount of playing time Gayle is likely to get this season, with Glenn Murray and Frazier Campbell also in Pardew’s attacking ranks.
However, Parish believes that Gayle still has a big part to play for the Eagles next season. In an interview with TalkSPORT, an English radio station, Parish said :
“Dwight is a fantastic goalscorer and probably the best finisher at the club. Glenn [Murray] would probably argue with that but they are neck and neck I think.”
