Several Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace and Newcastle have expressed interest in Sporting striker, Islam Slimani.
Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew confirmed to Sapo Desporto that he is watching the Algerian striker, and has an interest in signing him.
The ex-Newcastle United boss told Sapo Desporto:
“Slimani is a great player,”
“We have observed him for a long time. He has great quality.”
However, the Eagles will face stiff competition from several English top flight sides, who are also interested in Slimani’s services. Alongside the two mentioned above, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United and Aston Villa have all been linked with the 27-year-old.
HITC Sport brought the suggestions about Newcastle, Leicester and West Brom, whereas the Mirror reported that the Hammers and Aston Villa were interested.
The bottom line is that snapping up Slimani won’t be easy for Palace, but they have been adventurous with their summer signings, which include Yohan Cabaye and Patrick Bamford.
However, the price Sporting may ask for their striker could become a problem. The Portuguese club wont let their ex-CR Belouizdad star leave on the cheap.
