Premier League side Crystal Palace want to employ Newcastle United coach Andy Woodman, as Alan Pardew prepares his staff ahead of the new domestic campaign.
The Shields Gazette report that Woodman, who has been at the Magpies for nearly half a decade, is wanted by the Eagles. However, the South London side are not prepared to splash out on such an expensive compensation package.
Pardew has worked with Woodman before, having been alongside him in the dugout whilst in the hot seat at St James’ Park.
The goal-keeping coach was not present at Newcastle’s latest pre-season encounter against York City, and could be set to replace the outgoing George Wood.
However, the appointment mainly hinges on whether or not Palace can find their way around the compensation fee, as it is deemed way too high by the club.
Woodman’s son, Freddie, left Newcastle for Crawley Town so this could be a sign that his father is willing to make the move down South too.
