Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle is set to leave Selhurst Park this summer and join Fulham on loan.
The Mirror claim that the Championship side contacted Alan Pardew after news broke that they had agreed a deal to sign Connor Wickham from Sunderland.
The 24-year-old has been Palace’s top scorer in all competitions both seasons he’s been at the club since his £4.5m move from Peterborough United – despite only making just 19 starts in those two seasons.
Gayle has been out of favour under Pardew – who fancies a lone striker approach with a more physical forward leading the line, which would explain his bringing Glenn Murray back into the fold last season, as well as making a move for Connor Wickham.
With Patrick Bamford as well in the mix at Selhurst Park on loan from Chelsea, it’s hard to envisage Gayle getting much game time going forward next season, so perhaps a loan move to a lesser side would be a wise move for all involved.
