Crystal Palace’s 18-year-old left back Christian Scales has today been linked with a move to Crawley Town.
The report from Crawley News does not specify if the move would be a loan deal or a permanent switch, although it does point out that Scales is looking to play regular first team football after taking part in the club’s recent tour of South Africa.
Mark Yates is looking for a left back and had taken former Antwerp man Bryan Van Den Bogaert on a trial with a view to a move, however he was injured in Crawley’s friendly game with Nuneaton Town, hence the interest in Scales.
Scales made his first appearance for Palace’s first team against Supersport United on the tour of South Africa. He played roughly 30 minutes as a substitute, but he says he learned a lot just by being on tour with the first team.
After arriving back from the tour, he spoke to the CPFC Official Website about the experience and his aims for the upcoming season.
“The main thing I’ll take from the trip is the positivity it’s given me. It was great being over there and I can use that as a stepping stone as it has given me the confidence to move forward.”
“I’ve also learned to listen more, taking things on board quicker and help the team. If I can help them as much as they have helped me then that would be good. I just want to take small steps and move forwards, but obviously as quick as possible.”
“I was with the squad for a week and I want more of it, I want to be there longer. That’s where I want to be and the boys are the benchmark that I have to get to.”
