Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has told press that they won’t wait around forever to see if Dwight Gayle wants to complete a move to Ashton Gate this summer. The Robins have been linked with being most likely to sign the Palace striker in the current window, and have had a bid accepted
in recent days. However, there were reports that the former Peterborough man was reluctant to complete a move down to the Championship, and wanted to wait and see if a Premier League club would come in for him.
After scoring 7 in 23 in the Premier League in 2013/14, the 24-year-old dropped off to 5 in 25 in the season just gone, which has led to him being linked with moves away from the club. And with The Eagles bringing in talents such as Connor Wickham and Patrick Bamford, it’s a struggle to see a
place for Gayle anymore.
Speaking to the press, as quoted by BBC Sport, Cotterill said:
“We won’t stay on it forever. It’s getting to a crunch time this week with that one.”
“There is nothing more I can tell you. We are not any further down the line with anything, there’s been a couple of conversations that have been had, not face to face. We have a timescale with it.”
“He wants to think about it. That can only go for so long.”
