According to the South London Press,Morroco international Maroune Chamakh is ready to return to the Crystal Palace, but for the reserve team as he isn’t fit enough in time for the Arsenal game.
For nearly all of the last campaign, the ex-Arsenal striker was suffering from constant hamstring issues, so the South London club are taking it easy, gently bringing the 31-year-old back into the frame.
Speaking to the media outlet above, the Eagles’ assistant manager Keith Millen said:
“We’re just being really cautious, because of his history.
“He won’t be available for the weekend, maybe next week he will get some game time in the reserves, we play at Tooting & Mitcham on Monday.
Palace will have their other strikers fit and ready for the arrival of Arsene Wenger’s side. Patrick Bamford, Glenn Murray, Connor Wickham and potentially Dwight Gayle are fit. However, ex-Peterborough striker Gayle has had an offer accepted for him by Bristol City but whether he goes or not is still yet to be seen. Alan Pardew will be hoping his side can keep their momentum going from the first game of the season, where they travelled to newly-promoted Norwich and won 1-3.
