Wantaway Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle could soon have an escape route presented to him, as a Championship club are preparing to make a bid for his services.
Sami Mokbel of the Mail Online claims that ex-Premier League stalwarts Fulham are soon to bid £8 million to take Gayle across London and join them on their quest to reach the Premier League again.
The proposed amount is exactly the same as the offer which Palace accepted for Dwight Gayle from Bristol City, also of the Championship. However, despite wanting to leave Selhurst Park, Gayle refused the option to join City, much to the surprise of Alan Pardew:
“The owner wants to push up to the Premier League. That decision isn’t mine. That’s Dwight’s decision”.

Pardew is eager to offload Gayle and has told the striker that he is happy to help him find a new club. The Palace boss has brought in Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea and bought Sunderland’s Connor Wickham this summer – so with these two acquisitions rivalling Glenn Murray mean that there is now no place for Gayle in the Eagles’ squad.
Mokbel claims that Palace are looking for £10 million for Gayle, but having already seen the club accept Bristol City’s £8,000,000 offer, Fulham are confident that a bid of the same amount will be enough to see the transfer happen.
If Gayle makes the move, it will be the most Crystal Palace have ever received as a transfer fee for one of their strikers. The deal as a whole would see Palace earn more than the £8.6 million they were paid by Everton for Andy Johnson in 2006.
