Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has tipped club captain Scott Dann and attacking midfielder Jason Puncheon to represent England, as per BBC Sport
Dann and Puncheon have played instrumental roles at the club since Pardew’s return to the club he once played for earlier this year.
28-year-old Dann is the anchor of the Eagles’ defence and won the club’s Player of the Season award for 2014/15. The centre-back has previously represented England at Under-21 level.
Puncheon, meanwhile, has scored 13 Premier League in two seasons at Selhurst Park and contributed 10 assists since Palace’s play-off promotion in 2013. Despite not playing for England at any level, the former Newcastle boss feels the creative midfielder is ‘underestimated’ and is ‘better than players who have played for England.’
‘They have that confidence, they are top Premier League players and could play for England,’ said Pardew.
He continued to say ‘There’s five or six players in this squad who could get into their squad, but Puncheon and Dann lead the way in terms of where they are.’
Crystal Palace have started this season strongly under Pardew with an opening day victory over recently-promoted Norwich and put in an impressive display as they lost to title contenders Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
