QPR’s Director of Football Les Ferdinand confirmed on TALKsport that Crystal Palace had a bid rejected for striker Charlie Austin earlier in the summer.
However, according to a report in The Mirror, The Eagles are set to try again to acquire the striker who has already been linked with a move to both Bournemouth and Newcastle.
The latest report in The Mirror says that The Eagles believe that they’ll be able to negotiate a better deal with QPR as the transfer window comes to an end.
Interest in Austin looks to be high, as highlighted by the fact that Leicester also had a £12m bid rejected by QPR earlier in the transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Austin, who was called up to the England squad at the end of last season, wants to leave to play in the Premier League, although he is not “kicking up a fuss” at Loftus Road.
Palace have already signed Connor Wickham and Patrick Bamford this summer, so a move for Austin could well lead to Dwight Gayle and Glenn Murray leaving, after interest in both has been widely reported this summer.
