Crystal Palace needed extra time to see off League One side Shrewsbury Town and progress to the third round of the Capital One Cup.
Matt Toole’s near post finish put the visitors ahead in the 9th minute, and they remained in the lead up until the 41st minute. Wilfried Zaha was fouled in the penalty area, and Dwight Gayle converted the resulting spot-kick to level proceedings.
The game remained level throughout the second half, with the only major talking point in the second period being the hamstring injury suffered by Mile Jedinak.
The game went into extra time, and The Eagles took the lead for the first time via another penalty in the 95th minute.
Glenn Murray was fouled in the area, the referee awarded the spot-kick and Murray stepped up himself and put it away.
Palace put the game to bed just two minutes later as Lee Chung-Yong’s amazing run culminated with a neat near-post finish.
Zaha then rounded off te scoring with six minutes to go with a neat header.
